The Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC) is a not-for-profit corporation and is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c) (3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
The Finance Office of the Center is dedicated to providing the highest quality support to the Center’s faculty, and scientific staff while also fulfilling its fiduciary responsibility of protecting the long-term interests of the Center and operating at the highest levels of professionalism and integrity.
The Center also tries to maintain high efficiency in ensuring that as much funding as possible is directed to program—related expenses. In 2007 the Center’s expenses totaled $16.6 million (not including depreciation). Program expenses were almost 85 percent of these expenses, meaning that 85 cents of every dollar went directly to AIDS research. Also, ADARC maintains a very low fundraising ratio of under 2 percent of total expenses. Over the past two years, ADARC has received a four star rating (highest rating) from Charity Navigator.

CHARITY NAVIGATOR Your Guide To Intelligent Giving ADARC has been awarded its fifth consecutive 4-star rating by Charity Navigator, an independent organization that evaluates the fiscal management of America's largest charities. Less than 10% of charities achieve such a designation. |
Over the past four years ADARC’s program expenses have increased by over 40% while administrative expenses have remained relatively flat (see chart). This illustrates management’s continuing concerted effort to keeping incremental overhead costs associated with additional funding to a minimum.
